The Tangerine Tale

Hey there,

I’ve always had a love – hate kind of relationship with the colour Orange. And thus, I’ve actually been quite sceptical about uploading this article for a very long time. But then, I thought to myself that I need to learn to move on and get sh*t done.

Therefore, after almost an infinity of waiting and very unreasonable contemplating, in a moment of impulsive decision, I bring to you my Tangerine Tale.

The colour orange has always attracted me because of its bold and vibrant nature. However, although being a lover of bright hues, I’ve always shyed away from incorporating a lot of orange in my outfit for reasons unknown. I won’t deny buying items that are different shades of orange, but hoarding them being my sole purpose. Rarely ever would I willingly pull out a vibrant coral or a bright tangerine and wear it as my outfit for the day (or night for that matter).

However, for creating this look, I was pleasantly drawn towards this vibrant bell-sleeved orange top that I picked up from Koovs, but never dared to wear. But, I’m glad I did, because surprisingly enough, I’d like to admit that it is turning out to be one of my favourite tops ever.

Like always, I took the minimalistic route for my styling and wore a pair of black ripped shorts from Shein. I slipped into my most comfortable pair of shoes from Forever 21, that has been used and abused for years. And lastly, I put on a pair of orange reflective wayfarers from Knockaround.

So, there you have it. The Tangerine Tale. Let me know your views/suggestions in the comments section down below. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Facebook.

Until next time,

Day in a Denim Dress

Hey there,

If you’ve been following my journey so far, you probably must be aware of my age-old denim obsession. I’ve already shared a blog post in the past solely dedicated to my little denim dress. And today, here I am, back with another post, yet again, talking a little more about a denim dress. Although the two posts share the same roots, they’re both totally different.
A denim dress is as important in a girls wardrobe as is her little black dress. Being a no-brainer, it’s easy to dress the Denim dress up or down depending on where you’re heading. A perfect mix with the right  combination, accessories and shoes can ensure you have a completely new look every time you step out of the house.
I’m constantly on the lookout for cute and versatile dresses that can be styled in a number of ways and are also easy on the pocket, whether it is finding gems on the streets or indulging in the therapy of some online shopping. Just so, while browsing through my go-to website Bewakoof.com, I came across their new range of women’s dresses and I was sold.
As soon as I set my eyes on this Denim Shirt Dress, I knew I had to own it. Such a timeless and versatile piece, and oh, how affordable. It was meant to come to me. Being a hardcore Denim lover, I couldn’t stop thinking of the numerous ways I would style this dress and make the most out of it.
Here, I’ve styled the same dress in two completely different and ways. As always, keeping it simple has been my mantra. Have a look and don’t forget to let me know your favourite one in the comments section down below.

The perfect patch

Hey there!

Patches have made a significantly huge comeback and how! These cute little quirky things instantly transform any casual and plain outfit into a completely different piece, giving it its own brand new identity. And mind you, they aren’t limited to just clothes. They’re out there spreading their craziness to every possible thing- Bags, shoes, accessories and what not. You even get loose patches that you can physically sew on to things by yourself and give it your personal touch.

I am all about these fun patches and, well, I have a tendency to even go a bit overboard with them.

The good thing about patchwork on clothing is that it looks super cute and quirky and is yet so casual and wearable. Team it up with a fun backpack and some comfortable sneakers and get ready to capture the world.

I have styled a cute white tee with denim joggers that have an overload of patches. I got them both from ShopSpringBreak for Koovs.com. I carried this classic black faux leather backpack from StalkBuyLove.com that is super spacious and can carry your world around in it, anywhere and anytime. It is one of those pieces that never go out of style. I love this backpack so so much. Perfect for everyday, running errands, for travelling, college and basically everything. Lastly, I wore a pair of white sneakers from Zara to complete the look.

June favourites

Hey there!

Is it just me or is time actually flying by that fast? Did we not just step into 2016? I simply can’t seem to come to terms with the fact that we are already into the second half of the year. Damn! Time flies! Won’t be too shocking if we bat an eyelid and *BOOM* welcome 2017!

Anyway, too much of my ranting there. Let’s get to the point.

So this month, I decided to share my favourites with you’ll. Basically, tell you guys about the things I’ve been loving and enjoying throughout the month of June. There aren’t too many things, but I wanted to show them to you’ll anyway.

1. Blogging

I’ve just started blogging recently to satiate my love for writing. And I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it! I’m constantly on the run for creating new content, new ideas or thinking about what to post next. My blog is like my baby.

2. Maybelline Colorshow nail paint – Crazy Berry

Crazy Berry by Maybelline is a very unusual shade. It is a dark berry shade that’s somewhat like an intense purple with almost black undertones. I hope you understand what I’m saying coz it’s difficult to explain colours in words. This one-of-a-kind colour has been on my nails for almost the entire month and I’m not done yet!

3. Mary Poppins by Sugar Cosmetics

This pretty shade of pink has been another favourite this month. It’s super bright, almost neon with blue undertones and shades like that do not suit a lot of Indian skin tones. But this particular shade breaks all stereotypes and looks ravishing on Indian skin. If you are into bright Barbie-like lips, then you must totally check it out.

4. Lotus Herbals Lipstick in Pure Mauve

Unlike Mary Poppins, this one is a more subtle mauve-y lipstick. It is from the pinky nude family and looks stunning against Indian skin. It is very well pigmented and stays put for a fairly good time. Sadly, it doesn’t last through meals, but that’s not a big drawback since you can always reapply it. The colour is so stunning, I’ve been wearing it non-stop.

5. La Roche Possay Anthelios XL

This product has hands-down been an all time favourite. This is an everyday gentle light weight sunscreen that protects your skin against the harsh sun and trust me, it works like magic. It comes with a spray dispenser which makes it easier to apply it on the body. It takes some time to blend in the skin, but once done, you don’t need to worry for hours. I have been using it religiously for months and months.

6. Marillyn jeans from StalkBuyLove

I hope you read one of my previous posts where I styled this pair of Jeans from StalkBuyLove. It is a pair of ripped denims and the fabric is oh-so-comfy and stretchable. It isn’t too thick and let’s your skin breathe, making it a perfect pair of denims for a place like Mumbai. This is one clothing item that I’ve been wearing almost every other day.

7. Moroccan Oil

Moroccan oil treatment is one such hair product that I swear by. Although it is a bit hard on the pocket, a little goes a long way with this one. It has a thick oil-like consistency, so a pea sized amount is just what you need. I use it after every wash, and it instantly adds a lift and so much life to my other wise dry and limp hair. I would totally urge you to invest on this one.

8. Knockaround Reflective Sunglasses

So I won’t deny, I’m still having a summer hangover! These fun reflective sunnies are what I’ve been reaching out for all June.  I absolutely love wayfarers anyway and the orange reflective glasses just add to the fun quirky factor. Even when I don’t feel like dressing up, these sunglasses are all I need to add that oomph.
So that’s about it. Tell me which products have you been loving the last month or if there’s any product you’d like me to try in the comments down below.

Until next time,

How to dress right this monsoon

The city just experienced its first downpour post the scorching heat this year and I’m pretty sure we all danced in joy. And why not? I mean, summers are all about dressing cute and showing off our tanned bodies, but they do arguably take a toll on us. Monsoons have been much awaited, and now that they’re around the corner, it is very important to know how to dress right and be presentable at all times.

While it isn’t so difficult to get your monsoon outfit on point, here are some tips you should keep in mind –

1. Pick the right footwear

It goes without saying that you must ditch those expensive leather shoes since they tend to wear out and peel when in contact with moisture. Instead, get yourself some slip-resistant shoes like crocs, jelly footwear or ballerinas that are meant for monsoons. However you must avoid those hard plastic shoes as they tend to give you blisters and shoe bites while being extremely uncomfortable.

2. Choose light-weight fabrics

The sun plays hide-and-seek almost every hour of a rainy day. That leaves very little time for your clothes to dry out, leaving them damp and impossible to wear. Also, fabrics like denim and corduroy absorb a lot of moisture and weigh you down. Hence, you must opt for light-weight fabrics like lycra, chiffon, nylon or light-weight cotton or linen while picking your monsoon apparel. These fabrics dry out quickly and don’t stick much to your skin, which is just what you need to look chic and crisp.

3. Crop it up

Imagine wearing your favourite maxi skirt or those bell-bottomed denims and then accidentally stepping on a pool of muck or a filthy puddle. I’m sure it would ruin your mood just as it would ruin your outfit. To avoid this mess, I would suggest you to opt for midi-skirts, cropped culottes, shorts or ankle length pants. After all, its always better to keep it short and simple.

4. The brighter, the better

Days in the monsoon are quite dull and gloomy. The sky is dressed in different shades of grey as the black clouds help accessorise it. To bring some life and colour to this otherwise toned-down atmosphere, make sure your outfit is bright and colourful. Bright colours instantly uplift your mood and energy in the lazy rainy days when all you want to do is lay in bed with a cup of hot chocolate. Avoid whites and lighter colours as they get transparent when in contact with water. Opt for bold prints, striking colours and minimal yet funky accessories.

5. Less is more

This rule majorly applies while picking out your accessories on a rainy day. Remember to keep it minimalistic and let your clothes do the talking. This is because most metal detailing on the jewellery, watches and other accessories cannot sustain the moisture level and loses its shine and eventually wears out. But, if you do want to add some fun factor to your outfit, I would suggest investing in some cute raincoats or quirky umbrellas to stand out in the crowd.
